Reese Ramsey Obituary

Reese Brielle Ramsey, age 15, of Pittsfield, IL passed away on Tuesday, February 11, 2025, due to injuries sustained from a vehicle accident. Reese was born on November 9, 2009, in Springfield, IL. Her parents are Jodi (Brooks) Allen and Heath (Sally Snyder) Ramsey.

Reese came into this world given just hours to live and beat the odds as she continued to do throughout her life. That was only the beginning of the tenacity and perseverance that everyone would come to know and love about her. She was ambitious and one-of-a-kind. She went on to excel at every sport before settling on her love of basketball. Her journey from middle school phenomenon to high school sensation captured the hearts of basketball enthusiasts from near and far. While at Pikeland Middle School she led her team to four State Titles including two back-to-back undefeated state championships plus multiple individual state records. Reese continued the same energy and drive into her short but impressive Pittsfield High School basketball career. She was not only a Saukee and part of the “Fab 5,” but was a devoted member of her AAU team, 25 Eight Mentality. Reese aspired to play Division I Basketball at the University of Iowa and there is no doubt she would have been a Hawkeye.

She was known for her infectious energy, determination, and ability to inspire those around her. Reese was unapologetically herself, living by her code of “do you.” She was a happy, funny, and witty teen with an old soul. She was a super loyal sister and friend who stood up for what she believed in. Off the court she loved music, the Chiefs, fishing, mushrooming, pickleball, steak and anything dill pickled. Reese had an addiction to sneakers and sunflower seeds and was known for her boxer braids…not pigtails. Her passing leaves a void in the hearts of her family, friends, teammates, and the entire surrounding communities, who will remember her not just as a talented athlete but as a bright light who touched countless lives during her brief but impactful time. We can only hope that heaven has a golden court where she hooked up with Kobe Bryant for a little 1 on 1 with her Papa Bobby courtside.

Reese is survived by her parents Jodi (Brooks) Allen of Pittsfield, IL and Heath (Sally Snyder) Ramsey of Chatham, IL ; sisters, Isabella Ramsey, Deeghan Allen, and Mia Allen; grandparents, Brenda (Kevin Roberts) Heimlich, Kevin (Tami) Patterson, Gail ‘Gigi’ Ramsey and Chuck Ramsey, Rich Allen, Shelly Allen, and Ray and Gloria Snyder; great-grandparents, Les and Connie Allen, Mike and Sandy Corbin, Ann and Lyle Revis, Patricia Precht, Bob Rogers, James and Gwendolyn Brokaw, and Mary Ann Snyder; aunts, uncles and cousins Jamie Patterson; Dustin, Jami, Camryn, and Tate Patterson; Brittany “Bebe”, John and Ella Tawdrouse; Briana, Tony, Maxwell and Ty Jackson; Gary Ramsey; Laurie Duval Call; Clint and Gavin Snyder; and her beloved dog, Kobe. She was preceded in death by her Papa Robert ‘Bobby’ Heimlich; great-grandparents, Doug Precht, Doris Rogers, Homer and Verda Patterson.
