Rebecca Rennecker Obituary

Rebecca (Becky) Lynn Rennecker, age 73, of Barry, Illinois, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, January 7, 2026 at Barnes Jewish Hospital in St. Louis, Missouri. She was born on August 19, 1952 to Tom and Nadine (Fee) Main.  She attended Barry High School, Patricia Stephens College and John Wood Community College later in life.

On November 23, 1974 at the Barry Methodist Church, Becky married the love of her life, Steve. Together they shared 51 years of marriage built on faith, commitment, and deep love. She was a devoted wife and an incredible mother to their three children: Chad (Lindsey), Shawn (Stefanie), and Alicia. Her family was her greatest joy, and she supported them endlessly with encouragement, guidance and unconditional love. She lived a life defined by service, kindness and unwavering devotion to her family and community.

A deeply caring and selfless woman. Becky poured her heart into everything she did. She was a constant presence in the lives of her children in the Barry community, generously giving her time and talents through the Band Boosters, PTA, and Sports Boosters. She also served as a leader in the local 4-H Club and Scouts, mentoring countless young people and helping shape futures through patience and encouragement.

Becky was a gifted cook and baker, best known for her homemade pies and cakes. Her skills earned her multiple wins at the Barry Apple Festival pie baking contest, a source of pride and friendly competition she greatly enjoyed. She was also widely known for baking birthday and wedding cakes for her own family and many other families throughout the area, leaving a sweet mark on many of life’s most treasured celebrations.

She dedicated much of her working life to supporting others, she operated an in-home daycare when her children were young. She worked as cafeteria staff at Barry School, a secretary at the Pike County Housing Authority and The Paper, and also served as a bookkeeper for the family Case IH and Chrysler business for many years.

Becky will be remembered for her warm smile, generous spirit, strong work ethic, and the quiet way she made everyone feel cared for. Her legacy lives on in the lives she touched, the traditions she created, and the love she gave so freely.

She is survived by her husband, Steve; 3 children, Chad (Lindsey) Rennecker, Shawn (Stefanie) Rennecker, and Alicia Rennecker; 9 grandchildren: Canin (Kathryn), Kaydee, Chadym, Sophie, Knox, Sloane, Rory and Kaycen; 1 great-grandson, Quinton; a sister, Randa Gorton; a brother, Tim Main; a father-in-law, Floyd Rennecker; brother-in-law, Kevin (Debbie) Rennecker; sister-in-laws, Denise (Mark) Ehrhardt, Donna (Terry) Beard, and Brenda (Mike) Rennecker; and numerous nieces and nephews and cousins she greatly loved.
