Rebecca (McDonald) Guthrie

Rebecca Guthrie, age 67 of Pittsfield, IL passed away Tuesday, May 6, 2025, at Eastside Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center in Pittsfield. She was born October 8, 1957, in Hannibal, MO to Virgil and Shirley McDannald McDonald. Becky married Geoffrey J. Guthrie May 10, 2002 and he preceded her in death September 5, 2011.

Becky was a 1975 graduate of Pittsfield High School and then enlisted in the United States Army. She was first stationed at Fort Stewart, Georgia and later in Fuerth, Germany until her honorable discharge in May 1980. Becky was a CNA in several area nursing homes and was a secretary for several years for Smith Oil. She enjoyed going to auctions and garage sales and liked collecting knick knacks.

Becky is survived by her children, Steven (Jill) Chase and Cheryl Chase; grandchildren, Gabriel, Samuel and Isabella; siblings, Robert (Peggy) McDonald and Mary McDonald; and several nieces and nephews also survive.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Virgil and Shirley McDonald; husband, Geoffrey Guthrie; and sisters, Diana McDonald in infancy and Karen McDonald.

Cremation rites have been accorded, and Graveside Service will be held at 10:00 AM, Wednesday, May 28, 2025, at Gray Cemetery in New Salem, IL. Memorials are suggested to be made to the family c/o Niebur Funeral Home. Online condolences may be left to the family at www.nieburfh.com.
