Randall "Bogie" Hugh Hurt

Randall “Bogie” Hurt, age 62, of Barry, IL, passed away Wednesday, October 15, 2025, at Blessing Hospital in Quincy, IL. He was born on July 21, 1963, in Pittsfield, IL, to Hugh A. and Helen Nadine (Bogan) Hurt.  He married Jeane Fee on October 10, 1988, and she survives. 

Randy was raised in Barry, IL, graduating from Barry High School in 1981.  He then attended John Wood Community College for two years and finished his college career at SIU Carbondale, IL receiving his Bachelor of Science degree, with a major in Electronics Management.  He worked for the state of Illinois highway department and after that, he went to work for Freesen’s and then for McGruder’s for several years.  Eventually, he took over the family farm where he continued to work with his son, Alex, and grandson, Elijah until his untimely passing.  He was previously on the Barry Fire Department as well.

Randy had a nickname for everyone- some repeatable and some not! He liked deer and turkey hunting and working on old muscle cars with “Doc” Bryce Gleckler.  He loved 80’s rock and found joy and peace in playing the piano.  His greatest love was his family.  He loved going to his children and grandchildren’s activities and spending time with them.  He was hardheaded and known to be stubborn but was always willing to lend a helping hand.  He will be deeply missed by all that knew and loved him.

Randy is survived by; his loving wife, Jeane “Ole Eff” Hurt of Barry, IL; son, Alex (Megan) Hurt of New London, MO; daughter, Kayloni (Eric) Obert of Liberty, IL; grandchildren, Elijah Obert, Raelee Obert, Lyla Obert, Casen Hurt, and Corie Hurt; mother in law, Martha Fee; in-laws, Mike (Peggy) Fee, Joyce Fee, Mick Fee, Julie Tischer, and Monte (Jess) Fee.

He was preceded in death by; his parents, Hugh and Helen Hurt; brother and sister, Doug and Lori Hurt; and father in-law, Jack Fee.

The funeral service will be, Tuesday October 21, 2025, at 10:00 am at Niebur Funeral Chapel in Barry, IL with interment at Parklawn Cemetery, Barry, IL, immediately following.  Visitation will be Monday, October 20, 2025, from 4:00-7:00 pm at Niebur Funeral Chapel.  Memorials are suggested to Barry Fire Department.  Online condolences may be left to the family at www.nieburfh.com.  Niebur Funeral Chapel in Barry, IL is handling arrangements.
