Phyllis 'Jeanne' (Conkright) Howard

Phyllis ‘Jeanne’ Howard, age 84 of Pittsfield, IL passed away Monday, December 15, 2025, at her home. She was born January 26, 1941, in Pearl, IL to Earl and Wilma Priepot Conkright. Jeanne married Larry Howard March 22, 1959, at Milton Christian Church and he survives.

Jeanne was a member of Pittsfield First Christian Church. She worked at various jobs over the years including Alsey Glasgow Water Commission, assistant postmaster in Alsey, recorder at MacMurray College in Jacksonville, AB Chrisman Fertilizer Company, was secretary to the Superintendent at Barry High School, and a pharmacy tech at IHS. She also owned and operated Howard’s Tax Service and PJ’s Flowers to finish off her career. In her spare time, Jeanne also helped her husband with the hogs on the farm. She dearly loved being a grandma, was a social butterfly, a people person, and was always a peacekeeper who will be dearly missed by friends and family.

Jeanne is survived by her loving husband of 66 years, Larry Howard; son, Robert (Nicole) Howard; daughters, Pamela (Gene) Sethaler and Patricia (Tim) Peterson; eight grandchildren, Curtis, Kyle, Christie, James, Daniel, Carol, Katie, and Hannah; eleven great grandchildren; sister, Anna (Paul) Beck; and two nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Earl and Wilma Conkright.

Funeral service will be at 11:00 AM, Tuesday, December 23, 2025, at Niebur Funeral Home in Pittsfield with visitation held prior to the service from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the funeral home. Interment will follow the service at Green Pond Cemetery in Pearl, IL. Memorials are suggested to be made to Blessing Hospice, Green Pond Cemetery, or Pittsfield First Christian Church.
