Penny R. Craigmiles

Penny Renee Craigmiles, age 55 of Detroit, IL passed away on July 26, 2024.   She was born November 9, 1968, in Pittsfield, IL to William and Lois Harpole Craigmiles.

Penny graduated from Stratford High School in Goose Creek, SC and attended Trident Technical College in North Charleston, SC. She worked for over 15 years as a certified EMT and always believed helping others was her true passion and calling. Penny enlisted in the United States Army and went through basic military training at 42 years old. In recent years, she moved to Pike County to help care for her father and worked at Nucci’s Pasta House and Brewed Coffee House where she developed many great friendships. She enjoyed karaoke, dancing, refurbishing old furniture and loved antiques. Penny was a free spirit who was charming, social and always enjoyed a good time. She was a smart and compassionate friend who will be dearly missed.

Penny is survived by three daughters, Heather (Steven) Johnson, Erin Jackson and Olivia Craigmiles; seven grandchildren, Renee Johnson, Ava Johnson, Micah Johnson, Elaina Jackson, Jaxon Martin, River Martin and Levi Martin; brothers, Jay (Debbie) Craigmiles and Eric (Bonnie) Craigmiles; sister, Kelly Craigmiles; several aunts, uncles and cousins also survive.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Lois West; father, William Craigmiles; daughter, Mandi Henthorne; and brothers, Michael ‘Chris’ Craigmiles and Steven Craigmiles.

Cremation rites have been accorded and there will be a Celebration of Life will be held on Friday August 23, 2024, at The Barn on Summers Drive from 12:00 PM - 2:00 PM. Memorials are suggested to be made to the family c/o Niebur Funeral Home. Online condolences may be left to the family at www.nieburfh.com.
