Peggy (Williams) Murphy

Peggy Murphy, age 72, of Pittsfield, IL passed away Thursday, May 4, 2023, at Liberty Village in Pittsfield, IL. She was born May 7, 1950, in Jacksonville, IL to Bernard and Helen Seymour Williams. Peggy married Floyd Murphy June 11, 1995, in Literbury, IL and he survives.

Peggy grew up in Jacksonville, IL and graduated from Jacksonville High School. She worked as a caretaker in area nursing homes and group homes. Peggy was always known as a very caring and helpful lady. She was of Christian faith and enjoyed crafts, decorating straw hats and enjoyed cooking. Peggy loved Easter and Christmas and especially valued time spent with family. She was a very loving person who will be deeply missed by all who knew her.

Peggy is survived by her loving husband, Floyd Murphy; daughters, Jessica (Alex) Applebee of Elkmont, AL and Pam (Ray) Lawyer of Sullivan, IL; grandchildren, Timothy Lawyer and Ryan Lawyer; step-children, Marlon Murphy and Marcie (Don) Clostermery; step-grandchildren, Samantha Clostermery, Daniel Clostermery and Dakotah Clostermery; great grandson, Carlisle Lewis; siblings, Janice Coral, Diane Williams, Bruce Williams, Vicky Williams, Gary Williams and Carol Wallbaum; and several nieces and nephews also survive.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Bernard and Helen Williams; sister, Linda Williams; and two nephews.

Graveside service will be held at 10:30 AM on Wednesday, May 10, 2023, at Arcadia Cemetery in Jacksonville, IL. Memorials are suggested to be made to the family c/o Niebur Funeral Home.
