Paul E. Ransom

Paul E. Ransom, 76, of Pittsfield, died on Monday, January 8, 2024, at his home.  He was born May 16, 1947, in Pittsfield to Earl and Frances (Riley) Ransom.  He married Jane Kraybill in Pittsfield on August 27, 1967, and she survives.

Paul graduated from Pittsfield High School in 1965.  He attended Southern Illinois University at Carbondale and received a degree in finance.  He also earned a Masters in Business Administration from Southern Illinois University at Edwardsville.  Paul operated a tax return preparation service in Pittsfield since 1972.  He was also an IRS Enrolled Agent. 

He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Jane; three daughters, Dee Dee (Doug) Gellerman of Petersburg, Kim Brown and Kris (Gideon) Smith, both of Quincy; six grandchildren, John Gellerman, Caroline Smith, Samantha Brown, Liv Brown, Garrett Smith, and Jackson Smith.  He is also survived by three sisters, Marilyn Smith, Sherry Ranft, and Brenda Lagemann, along with several nieces and nephews.  He is also survived by two bonus sons, Christopher Reel and Keith Martin.  He was preceded in death by two brothers, Dick and Albert Ransom.

Per his wishes, there will be no services. Memorials can be made to Quanada or the donor’s choice.  Online condolences may be left to the family at www.nieburfh.com. Niebur Funeral Home in Pittsfield is handling the arrangements.
