Paul Wayne Anthony

Paul Wayne Anthony, age 89 of Griggsville, IL passed away Thursday, February 26, 2026, at Blessing Hospital in Quincy, IL. He was born May 2, 1936, in Griggsville, IL to Winfred and Jeanette Winn Anthony. Paul married Diana Whitefield December 22, 1986, and she survives.

Paul was a graduate of Griggsville High School and enlisted in the United States Army in May 1956. He worked as a dispatcher for Wabash Railroad and Artim Trucking and later worked for Don Stewart of Mt. Sterling. Paul attended gun shows in his spare time and enjoyed reloading his own shells. He was an avid animal lover who took delight in his outside kitties, BJ, Smoky, Walley, and Sime Catt. Paul also loved fishing at Chain of Rocks and enjoyed riding his motorcycle.

Paul is survived by his wife, Diana Anthony; his son, Steve Shelton of Pittsfield, IL; his daughter, Tammy (Melvin) Gilbert of Barry, IL; and stepdaughter, Laurie (Jerry) Walters of Quincy, IL; grandchildren, Megan Crone, Chris Gilbert, Samuel Gilbert, Jessica Green, and Alyssa Wiseman; several great grandchildren; and siblings, Sam Anthony and Janice Skelton.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Winfred and Jeanette Anthony; daughter in infancy; and grandson, Justin David Walters.

Cremation rites have been accorded, and a Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. Memorials are suggested to be made to the family c/o Niebur Funeral Home. Online condolences may be left to the family at www.nieburfh.com. Niebur Funeral Pittsfield is handling the arrangements.
