Pamela Sue (Coates) McCoy

Pamela McCoy, age 66 of Milton, IL passed away Sunday, June 8, 2025, at her home. She was born November 24, 1958, in Alton, IL to Andrew and Pansey Geisler Coates. Pamela married Donnie McCoy and to this union they welcomed Andrea Jo McCoy and Joseph Leroy McCoy.

Pamela was a 1977 graduate of Alton Senior High. She worked as a cook at Pere Marquette Lodge for many years and later became a CNA and worked at Calhoun County Nursing Center. After being injured at work, Pam went back to school at Lewis & Clark College and obtained her degree and began her career in medical records. In 2008 she began working at Scott County Nursing Center and was planning her upcoming retirement to concentrate on becoming a full time Grannie! Pam would miss her co-workers and residents who she considered extended family. She considered her grandbabies her greatest accomplishments and loved and cherished the time she spent with them. Pam was a faithful and dedicated member of the Assembly of God Church, finding her inner peace with her church family and was not ashamed to let everyone know, “You need Jesus!” Pam enjoyed cooking, sewing, and jamming out to music with her grandkids while they chauffeured her around. She could also be found in the stands cheering on the Pittsfield Saukee football team and supporting the cheerleaders. Pam was friendly, opinionated, enjoyed a good laugh and was always available when you needed a helping hand or some ‘friendly advice’ (whether you asked for it or not!)

Pam is survived by daughter, Andrea McCoy of Kampsville, IL; son, Joseph (Laura) McCoy of Milton, IL; grandchildren, Eli Alexander, Jacob Alexander, Savannah (Kendall Heberling) Alexander, Justice (Devan Clayton) McCoy, Ankia (Jaden Freesmeyer) McCoy, Preston (Danica Bryant) McCoy, Landon McCoy and Sophia McCoy; great grandchildren, Mikah, Emmy, and another on the way; brother, Steven Coates; uncle who was raised like a brother, Kevin Geisler; honorary grandchildren, Dalphna, Chance, and Dominic; several nieces and nephews; along with her work and church families including Donna and JoAnn.  

She was preceded in death by her parents, Andrew and Pansey Coates; sister, Toni; brother-in-law, Nick; and in-laws, Leroy and Glennabell McCoy.

Funeral service will be held at 6:00 PM, Monday, June 16, 2025, at Niebur Funeral Home in Pittsfield with visitation held prior to the service from 4:30 PM to 6:00 PM. Memorials are suggested to be made to the family c/o Niebur Funeral Home. Online condolences may be left to the family at www.nieburfh.com.
