Norman Shaw, age 76 of Pittsfield, IL passed away Monday, December 25, 2023, at 8:38 AM at Liberty Village in Pittsfield, IL. He was born October 17, 1947, at Illini Hospital, the son of Calvin Milner and Evelyn Lucile Shaw. Norman married Susan Ward on June 22, 2007, and she survives. Norman spent most of his life in the Pittsfield area.
Norman started school at Time Grade School. After two years, the family moved to a house southeast of Pittsfield. They lived there until his parents built a home just south of Pine Lakes where he lived until graduating from Pittsfield High School in 1966. After graduating, he attended Hannibal LaGrange College in Hannibal, Missouri, for two years. Norman transferred to Southwest Baptist College in Boliver, Missouri. He spent another two years there. His early adult life was spent rice farming in the Poplar Bluff, Missouri area. After moving back to Pittsfield, he was an over the road trucker and then worked for Area Disposal hauling hazardous material. Norman was a gifted artist, in his final years he loved to color intricate pictures with ink and pencil. He also loved to relax with their Shetland Sheepdogs, Samantha and Sherman. Norman was a third-degree member of Masonic Lodge #254 AF & AM in Butler, MO, a participant of Scottish Rite and a long-time member of Calvary Baptist Church in Pittsfield. He was a member of Baylis Baptist Church at the time of his death.
Norman is survived by his wife, Susan; one daughter, Jennifer Beth Shaw; two grandchildren; sister, Sheryl Lynn (J. Randal) Reddell of Omaha, AR; brother, Calvin Dean (Lisa) Shaw of the New Orleans, LA area; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Calvin and Evelyn Shaw; one sister, Shirley Ann Shaw; and daughter, Amanda Toombs.
Funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM, Friday, December 29, 2023, at Niebur Funeral Home in Pittsfield with visitation held prior to the service from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at the funeral home. Interment will follow the service at West Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to be made to the family c/o Niebur Funeral Home. Online condolences may be left to the family at www.nieburfh.com. Niebur Funeral Home in Pittsfield is handling the arrangements.
