Mary Jane Tuggle

Mary Jane Tuggle, age 75, of Pleasant Hill, IL passed away on Tuesday, September 27, 2022 at her home.  She was born on April 9, 1947 in Hannibal, MO to Clyde and Ruby Duckworth Pryor.  She married Larry Tuggle, Sr. on March 23, 1984 in Texas and he preceded her in death on December 12, 2012.

Mary Jane graduated from Pittsfield High School in 1965.  In earlier years, she worked at Pam’s Café in Pleasant Hill and in the 1980’s, she relocated to Texas where she owned a shrimp and fish market.  She returned to Pike County in 2010.  Mary Jane loved tending to her flowers and garden, watching Westerns and Law & Order, and going to the casino.  She was of the Baptist faith.  She loved her family and was very good with family history.  Mary Jane was sassy, sweet, funny, and ornery all wrapped into one.  She will be missed.

She is survived by her sons, John (Tara) Helm of Decatur, IL, Dusty (Adah) Helm of Pleasant Hill, IL, and Larry (Sandy) Tuggle of Freeport, FL; daughter, Barbara Tuggle of Florida; nine grandchildren, Chandler Helm, Addlynn Helm, Hailey Smith-Helm, Shayla Smith, Randi Schindler, Alyssa Horton, Katie Tuggle, Gary Tuggle, and Samantha Tuggle; three great grandchildren; brothers, William Johnston, Dennis ‘Pete’ Johnston, and Tim Pryor; sisters Betty Knight and Patty Pryor; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Clyde and Ruby Pryor; husband Larry Tuggle; grandson, Brayden Floyd; and sister, Tina Beaver.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, October 3, 2022 at 2:00 PM at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church.  There will be no visitation or interment and cremation rites have been accorded.  Memorials are suggested to be made to the family c/o Dusty Helm.  Online condolences may be left to the family at www.nieburfh.com.  Niebur Funeral Home is handling the arrangements.
