Mary J. (Kern) Guthrie

Mary Guthrie, age 74, of Pearl, IL passed away Saturday, May 18, 2024, at Carle Proctor Hospital in Peoria, IL. She was born September 12, 1949, in Washington, IL to Clarence Martin and Wanda Lee York Kern, Jr. Mary married Danny L. Guthrie December 23, 1972, in Peoria, IL and he preceded her in death December 30, 2023.

Mary was a home healthcare provider in Peoria for Quality Care and was very well liked by her clients. In earlier years, she enjoyed cooking and baking. Mary loved shopping, spending time with her grandkids and great grandkids. She was an animal lover, especially her dog Kia.

Mary is survived by daughters, Mistie Morgan of Pearl, IL and Lawindy (Drew Mooberry) Guthrie of Chilicothe, IL; grandchildren, Nicole (Tony) Whirrell and Samantha (Justin) Estima; great grandchildren, A.J., Daniel, Eli, Mia, Hope and one more on the way; and sister, Tina (Rick) Russell.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Clarence and Wanda Kern, Jr.; husband of 51 years, Danny L. Guthrie; great granddaughter, Morgan; and daughter-in-law, Sherry Reed.

Cremation rites have been accorded and there will be no services held at this time. Memorials are suggested to be made to Pike County Animal Shelter. Online condolences may be left to the family at www.nieburfh.com. Niebur Funeral Home in Pittsfield is handling the arrangements.
