Mary Duda Obituary

Mary Duda, age 80 of Pittsfield, IL and formerly of Godfrey, IL passed away Saturday, August 30, 2025, at her home. She was born February 17, 1945, in Monticello, AR to James E. and Johnnette Elizabeth Harden Wilson, Jr. Mary married Melvin Duda at the Methodist Church in Staunton, IL on December 19, 1964, and he survives.

Mary grew up in Staunton, IL and graduated from Staunton High School where she was very active in many activities. She went on to receive her masters in English and obtained her CPS. Mary began her career in marketing and finance departments at the Jefferson Smurfit Company and then became the executive secretary to the CFO, CEO and later the owner of the company. She rounded out her 41 years with the company as the head of special events where she coordinated sales events and awards for golf events including The Masters. Mary and Melvin loved to country line dance for over 60 years. She also enjoyed crocheting, solving Sudoku puzzles, and toll painting. She was a professional shopper and a wonderful cook but preferred going out to eat. Mary was a smart, hardworking woman who loved her family and will be dearly missed.

Mary is survived by daughter, Marisa (Reginald) Hart of Pleasant Hill, IL; grandchildren, Shannon Duda, Lee Duda, and Allen Duda; great grandchildren, Peyton Morgan and Jourdan Duda; sister, Shannon (Mike) Hall; and niece, Kimberly Wilson.

She was preceded in death by her parents, James and Johnnette Wilson; son, Michael Edward Duda; brother, James Wilson; and sister, Melissa Wilson.

Cremation rites have been accorded, and no services will be held. Memorials are suggested to be made to Pikeland Snack Pack. Online condolences may be left to the family at www.nieburfh.com. Niebur Funeral Home in Pittsfield is handling the arrangements.
