Marvin Hull Obituary

Marvin N. Hull of Barry, Illinois passed away Saturday, January 31, 2026, at the age of 97.  He was born on March 17, 1928, in Beverly, Illinois at the home of his parents, Charles and Maude (Kelly) Hull.  On February 5, 1950, he married Leah M. Potter.  They celebrated their 75th wedding anniversary in 2025 shortly before Leah’s passing on March 27, 2025.

Marvin was a 1946 graduate of Barry High School and farmed in the Beverly community all of his life.  He also was a bus driver for the Liberty and Barry school districts for many years.

He served as supervisor of Beverly Township for six years and was a member of the Town Board for twelve years.  He was president of the Adams County Health Improvement Association for six years, was a member of the Adams County Farm Service Agency and served on the Adams County Farm Bureau Board for nearly 30 years.

He and his wife were active members of the Fishhook United Brethren Church where he was church song leader and Sunday School superintendent for many years. 

Marvin enjoyed playing golf, pitching horseshoes, travel (especially family vacations to Branson) and attending gospel and country western music shows.

He is survived by a daughter, Peggy Ulm of Quincy; a son-in-law, Robert (Cari) Browning; grandchildren, Jason Browning, Jennifer (Willie) McArtor, Jeff (Nicole) Browning, Emily (Tim) Miller and Ali Nicole Browning; great-grandchildren; Madison McArtor, Jakob and Kalob Browning, Samuel, Leah and Abram Miller; extended family members, Sara Norris and Emma Bauer and a niece and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Leah; his parents; a daughter, Susan Browning; a granddaughter, Kaylynn Browning; and siblings, Wendell and Charles R. Hull, Leta Sandifer, Ina Spencer, Mardell Spencer and Bernadine Predmore.

Visitation will be from 4PM - 6PM on Tuesday, February 3, 2026, at the Niebur Funeral Chapel in Barry, Illinois.  Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, February 4, 2026, with a visitation prior to the service from 10 AM – 11:00AM at the United Brethren Church in Fishhook, Illinois.  Pastor Mark Dickerson will officiate.  Burial will be at Mound Prairie Cemetery in Beverly, Illinois.  Memorials are suggested to be made to the Fishhook United Brethren Church or the Beverly Cemetery Association.  Online condolences may be left to the family at www.nieburfh.com.  Niebur Funeral Chapel in Barry, Illinois is handling the arrangements.
