Marsha Lynn Cooper, age 73 of Bloomington, IL passed away Thursday, February 6, 2025, at Carriage Crossing in Bloomington, IL. She was born June 10, 1951, in Quincy, IL to Irwin and Ruth Reuschel Ideus. Marsha married Robert ‘Bob’ Cooper January 19, 1985, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Golden, IL and he preceded her in death April 2, 2019.
Marsha graduated from Western Illinois University in 1973, with a Bachelor of Science degree in Children and Family Services and she obtained her Master’s degree in Social Work from the University of Illinois in 1977. She began her social work career at the Baby Fold in Normal, IL. Marsha and Bob began their married life in New Canton, IL before relocating to Missouri where she continued her career in social work in Moberly, Boonville, and Marshall, MO. In her spare time, Marsha’s hobbies included gardening and cooking. She and Bob enjoyed traveling together, and shared a love of music, attending many concerts over the years. They also enjoyed following the Kansas City and St. Louis sporting teams.
Marsha relocated to Bloomington after her husband died to be closer to her family. The last two years of her life were spent at Carriage Crossing memory care facility. While at the facility, Marsha continued to use her social work skills and touched many residents and staff with her caring personality. Even through her illness, we were able to share many moments of joy and laughter as sisters.
Marsha is survived by sisters, Sandra (Greg) Vail and Carolyn (Tom) Weiland; nieces and nephews, Ryan (Allison) Severns, Lindsay Romer, Rose (David Miko) Vail, Jake (Caitlin) Vail, Katy (Jordan) Schwartz, Seth (Sara) Weiland, Nick (Allison) Uphoff and Emily (Wade) Furrow; several great nieces and nephews; brother-in-law, Jeff Romer; sister-in-law, Ruth Ann (Rich) Uphoff; and two special lifelong friends, Debbie and Janet.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Irwin and Ruth Ideus; husband of 34 years, Bob Cooper; and sister, Jeanne Romer.
Cremation rites have been accorded, and graveside service will be held at a later date at Adams Dustin Cemetery in Atlas, IL. Memorials are suggested to be made to The Alzheimer’s Association.
