Marsha Kay (Slone) Brown

Marsha Kay Brown, age 71, of Barry, IL passed away Aug. 22, 2024 at her home.  She was born on September 30, 1952 in Peoria, IL to Eldon and Anita J. Galloway Slone.  She had over 40 wonderful years of marriage with her husband, Robert Brown, and he survives.

Marsha attended Lake Weir High School in Florida, graduating in 1970.   Right out of high school, she worked for Certified Grocers.  She then went into the medical field-attaining her CNA license and also training to be a surgical technician.  She worked in billing at Illini Hospital in Pittsfield, IL as well as cooking and bartending for several area establishments.  Marsha most recently cleaned houses for several friends. 

Marsha enjoyed antiquing and making crafts.  She liked to garden, working with plants and tending her yard as well as mushrooming.  She rode a Harley and usually ended up making a “Copperhead Stop” when she rode.  She loved family gatherings and fish fries because spending time with family and friends was her greatest joy.  Marsha was strong willed, fiercely independent and maybe a bit sassy, but she was nurturing and always ready to help someone in need. 

She is survived by; loving husband, Robert “Bob” Brown of Barry, IL; son, Chad (Jessica) Monroe of Belleview, FL: daughter, Misty Young of Barry, IL; grandson, Dustin Monroe; brother, Allen (Debi) Slone of Belleview, FL; sister, Karen Scott of Pleasant Hill, IL; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Marsha was preceded in death by; her parents, mother Anita Clark, and father and stepmother, Eldon and Maxine Slone; brothers, Jack Slone and Freddie Slone; and nephew, Cory Slone.

There will be a graveside service at Parklawn Cemetery in Barry, IL on Monday, August 26, 2024 at 11:00 a.m.  Memorials are suggested to the family, c/o Niebur Funeral Chapel in Barry, IL.  Condolences may be left to the family at www.nieburfh.com.  Arrangements are being handled by Niebur Funeral Chapel in Barry IL.
