Obituary

Marilyn J. Smith, age 89, of Winchester, IL and formerly of Bluffs, IL passed away Sunday, April 16, 2023, at Scott County Nursing Center in Winchester. She was born January 16, 1934, in Beardstown, IL to August and Frances (Travis) Yost. Marilyn married Eldred E. Smith and he preceded her in death.

Marilyn was a woman who wanted for little. She would help others if able. Marilyn was a woman of Christian faith who enjoyed listening to Sunday sermons, whether in person or on the radio and she enjoyed reading her Bible daily.

Marilyn is survived by brother, Richard ‘Dick’ (Beth) Yost; sister, Mary Jean (John) Rhoades; and numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Eldred E. Smith; father, August H. Yost; mother, Frances F. Yost; and two brothers, Bob (Nancy) Yost and Larry Yost.

Graveside service will be held at 2:00 PM, Wednesday, April 26, 2023, at Hillcrest Cemetery in Bluffs, IL. Memorials are suggested to be made to P.A.W.S. in Jacksonville, IL or Schuyler County Humane Society in Rushville, IL. Online condolences may be left to the family at www.nieburfh.com. Niebur Funeral Home in Pittsfield is handling the arrangements.
