Margaret P. (Brown) Ehlert

Margaret P. Ehlert, age 89, of Barry, IL passed away on Wednesday, December 1, 2021 at Scott County Nursing Home in Winchester, IL. She was born on August 28, 1932 in Milton, IL to Ruben and Sadie Ruble Brown. Margaret married Irwin Ehlert at Trinity Lutheran Church in Neelyville on March 15, 1953 and he preceded her in death.

She grew up and attended Milton schools, graduating from East Pike High School in 1950. Margaret was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Pittsfield and attended Neelyville Trinity Lutheran Church in her earlier years and was a very active member of her church. She worked as a bookkeeper and accountant for Archer Daniel Elevator in Springfield, Marshall Chevrolet in Winchester, Coleman Motor Company in Quincy, Shottenkirk in Quincy, and finished her career at JIREH in Barry, IL retiring in 2005. Margaret dearly loved her family and enjoyed every moment she could spend with them and was especially thankful for their family reunions. She enjoyed sewing and cross stitching and loved to cook and bake. She was a member of the Barry Apple Festival Committee, Barry PTA, Barry American Legion Auxillary, Lutheran Women’s Missionary League and a proud recipient of Barry Apple Festival Golden Apple Citizen Award.

Margaret is survived by son, John Ehlert of Barry, IL; daughters, Mary Ehlert of Illinois and Beth Ehlert of Jacksonville, IL; five grandchildren, Colt (Misha) Ehlert of Barry, IL, Tahni (Chris) Kenady of Barry, IL, Blake Heskett of Roodhouse, IL, Brandon Heskett of Roodhouse, IL and Jeffrey R. McIntire of Winchester, IL; five great grandchildren, Jackson, Marley and Piper Ehlert, Grady and Raegyn Kenady; brother, Lewis (Lois) Brown of Pittsfield, IL; sister in law, Diane Ehlert of Pittsfield, IL; brother in law, Danny Parker of Bluffs, IL; and numerous nieces and nephews also survive.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Ruben and Sadie Brown; husband, Irwin Ehlert; siblings, Howard Brown, Brad Brown, Earl Dean Brown, Ellen Wade, Dorothy Guthrie, Eva Mae Roentz and one sister in infancy, Laura.

Funeral service will be held on Monday, December 6, 2021 at 1:00 PM at Neelyville Trinity Lutheran Church near Bluffs, IL with interment at Neelyville Cemetery. Visitation will be held prior to the service from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM at the church. Memorials are suggested to be made to Neelyville Trinity Lutheran Church.
