Lynn Ray Ator, 76 of Pittsfield IL, passed away on Monday, November 6, 2023, at Blessing Hospital in Quincy IL. Lynn was born May 30, 1947, to Wayne and Ruth Ghrist Ator.
Lynn was a lifelong Pike County resident who was known as a local farmer and truck driver/heavy duty operator, and never short on conversation. Lynn could always be found talking crops or sports at the local coffee shop. He was an avid Saukee sports fan and went to most games near or far. Lynn graduated from Pittsfield High School in 1966 where he participated in Saukee Football under Coach Deek Pollard and over the years has enjoyed meeting with fellow classmates often. He was also a member of the Old Orchard Country Club for many years, and a member of the Moose Lodge #420. Lynn loved being on the water in a boat, or water skiing over the years, vacationing in the Ozarks. He also enjoyed traveling to Colorado in his younger years to snow ski. Lynn enjoyed cars, sports cars, motorcycles and racing. Lynn also loved seeing all of his grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Lynn is survived by his daughter, Christy McGlauchlen of Pittsfield; son, Timothy Ator of Pittsfield; four grandchildren, Paige (Jason) Taylor, John Ator, Emily Ator and Isaac McGlauchlen; two great grandchildren, Grayson Taylor and Briggs Taylor; and companion, Linda Haskins; siblings, Estil (Debbie) Ator, Linda (James) Carnes, Lee (Tammy) Ator and Roberta (John) Boarman; and several nieces and nephews also survive.
Lynn was preceded in death by his parents, Wayne and Ruth Ator; and son, John Ator.
Funeral service will be held at 10:30 AM, Saturday, November 11, 2023, at Niebur Funeral Home in Pittsfield with visitation to be held Friday, November 10, 2023 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the funeral home. Interment will follow the service at Pittsfield West Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to be made to Saukee Nation or West Cemetery. Online condolences may be left to the family at www.nieburfh.com.
