Lori S. Hurt

Lori S. Hurt, age 60, of Pittsfield, IL passed away on Tuesday, April 12, 2022 at Kepley House in Pittsfield.  She was born on October 10, 1961 in Pittsfield, IL to Hugh and Nadine Bogan Hurt. 

Lori grew up in the Barry area but attended school in Pittsfield where she became a lifelong Saukee fan. After graduation, she moved into Kepley House in June 1986 with her pet rabbit, Skipper, where she was one of the first residents and while there, she worked for the Work Activity Center.  She attended Pittsfield United Methodist Church and Calvary Baptist Church.  Lori participated in the Special Olympics and did the softball throw, frisbee throw, and 50 yard dash.  She performed with heart and soul and always liked to win.  She loved the St. Louis Cardinals and enjoyed when she got to attend a game.  Lori had a great memory when it came to ages and birthdates of her family and some of her favorite memories were holiday family gatherings or picnics and time spent with her nieces and nephews who affectionately called her ‘Aunt Ree.’  She had a great personality and was very friendly and outgoing.  She was also lovingly called Pooh Bear and she never knew a stranger.  Lori especially liked dressing up and wearing jewelry and loved attending A Night to Shine Prom at The Crossing in Quincy.  She will be dearly missed by her family and her Kepley House family. 

She is survived by her brother, Randall (Jeane) Hurt of Barry, IL; niece, Kayloni (Eric) Obert of Liberty, IL; nephew, Alex (Megan) Hurt of New London, MO; great nieces and nephews, Elijah Obert, Raelee Obert, Lyla Obert, Casen Hurt, and Corie Hurt; and several cousins.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Hugh and Nadine Hurt.

Graveside services will be held on Monday, April 18, 2022 at 10:00 AM at Park Lawn Cemetery in Barry, IL.  Memorials are suggested to be made to Kepley House Activity Fund.  Online condolences may be left to the family at www.nieburfh.com.  Niebur Funeral Home is handling the arrangements.
