Lois Joanne Quinn Obituary

Lois Joanne (Stringfield) Quinn passed away peacefully on Sunday, February 1st, 2026, at Illini Community Hospital in Pittsfield, IL, surrounded by her daughter Michelle (Mickey) Elliott and granddaughters Andrea (Andi) Henry and Tracey Allen.

Joanne was preceded in death by her parents, Orville and Helen Stringfield, her brother, Orville Stringfield, her husband, Jean George (Bud) Quinn, son Gregory Quinn, and daughter Denise Canavit.

Surviving Joanne is daughter Mickey Elliott, granddaughter Andi, her husband Matt Henry, great granddaughters Emma, Grace, Piper, and Sutton. Also, granddaughter Tracey, husband Jake Allen, great grandson’s Konner and Wes and great granddaughter Anna.

Also surviving Joanne is her son Jeffrey, wife Laura, granddaughter Britney, her husband Bradley Grayson, grandson Ryan and granddaughters Kaitlyn and Hailey.

Also surviving Joanne is Denise’s husband Thomas Canavit, granddaughter Savannah, her husband Ian Shaw, and Savannah’s stepchildren Bailey and Axel.

Joanne was lovingly known to those who came into her life as “JoJo”.  JoJo was raised on a farm just outside of Pleasant Plains, IL. She attended a single room elementary school and always proudly proclaimed that she was the top student in her class!  By the way, she was the only student in her class…

JoJo and Bud lived in Springfield, IL, where all four of their children were born. Thanks to JoJo’s “relaxed” parenting style, her children became well known throughout their neighborhood for climbing the attached TV antennae and scampering across their rooftop unchaperoned!  She made so many lifelong friends while there, too many to name and so many have passed already.  All her children had wonderful memories of summer days at the Knights of Columbus beach on Lake Springfield and Sunday mornings with Mel-O-Cream donuts.

JoJo and Bud moved to Macomb in 1967, where she continued to build her circle of friends and became “that fun mom” to buddies of her children.  Dancing became a big part of her life, not only going to “The Hub” with Bud but also being part of a performing tap-dancing trio.

In 2012, Greg and JoJo moved in with Mickey in Pittsfield.  Greg lost his battle with cancer in 2014 and Denise her battle with cancer in 2021.  JoJo said sadly that outliving your children was just too hard.  In 2015, JoJo moved into the Hawthorne Inn then onto Griggsville Estates in 2024.  She made close friends with her fellow residents and staff of each facility and earned a reputation for loving to be the center of attention as well as being adorably self-centered and spoiled.

Moving to Pittsfield provided JoJo the opportunity to deeply connect to her great grandchildren.  She attended their activities, following their exploits on the “Gamechanger” app, but most of all she loved spending time with them.  They will miss her dearly, as we all will.
