Linda Hittner Obituary

Linda Ann Hittner, age 71 passed away Monday, November 10, 2025, at St. Johns Hospital in Springfield, IL surrounded by her family. She was born March 3, 1954, in Carlinville, IL to Robert D. and Alice Jean Hall Leefers. Linda married Darrel Albert Hittner September 20, 1969, and he preceded her in death August 26, 2020.

Linda attended Carlinville schools and later graduated from Pittsfield High School where she met Darrel in 1968. Linda tended bar at the Out of Bounds for Leroy Coultas and then she and Darrel later bought the Out of Bounds and moved it to the west side of the square. Together they ran the bar until selling it in 1989. She also worked at Brown Shoe Company, Mike’s Tavern, The Brickyard, and managed Green Acres before retiring. Over the years, she was a member of several pool and bowling leagues. Linda loved to golf and was a member of Old Orchard Country Club, enjoyed time spent camping at Lake Pittsfield, and relished traveling with Darrel and her family. Over the years, she enjoyed many trips with family and friends including cruises, a trip to Kauai and Maui, and most recently a Caribbean Cruise and family trip to Disney World. Linda also took delight in trying her luck in Las Vegas and at the St. Louis casino. She was always there for anyone who needed her no matter what she had going on in her life. Linda loved to host family gatherings and always had her home decorated beautifully for the holidays. She will especially be remembered for caring for her beloved grandson, Mark who lovingly called her ‘Grr-Mom’ and was known by her great grandson as ‘Gigi’. Linda was fun-loving, strong-willed, caring, compassionate, and an extremely strong woman who will be dearly missed by all. She had a love for Amazon whom she called ‘her people’, and some near and dear to her would refer to her as an Amazon-aholic!

Linda is survived by her daughters, Lisa (Steve) Wade of Sherman, IL, Julie Duff-Scandalis of Frisco, TX, and Cindy Reveal of Pittsfield, IL; grandchildren, Amber (Bret) McClelland, Ashley (David) Walden, Jordan Duff, Zachary Duff, Kadin Hittner, Keaton Hittner, and Maylin Hittner; great grandchildren, Brooks McClelland and a baby boy on the way; brother, David (Veronica) Leefers; sister, Susan (Donald) Myers; numerous nieces and nephews; her yellow lab, Molly Jean and Bob the cat.
