Linda Sue Gratton, age 68, of Pittsfield, IL passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on Thursday November 23, 2023, at her home. She was born on January 23, 1955, in Hannibal, MO to Samuel J. and Alvina Ott Meyers. Linda married Charles Gratton on June 2, 1973, in Detroit, IL and he survives.
Linda was raised and attended school in Louisiana, MO and graduated from Louisiana High School in 1973. She was a wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and homemaker her entire life and she was good at it. She also babysat several children over the years. She was of the Baptist faith and in recent years attended The Crossing Church. Linda was very smart and had a great memory. She enjoyed watching documentaries but never missed an episode of ‘Little House on the Prairie'. She loved classic cars and liked them loud and fast. Linda was a master crocheter, always gifting her creations. She loved to read, play board games and especially loved ‘60 and ‘70’s music. She also had a great love for animals particularly her sweet puppies. Linda could be funny, onery, and a bit feisty but loved big and gave the best hugs. She loved her family and was loved back by all who knew her, she will be greatly missed.
Linda is survived by her loving husband of 50 years, Charles Gratton; five children, Chuck (Rebecca) Gratton of Hillsboro, MO, Todd (Jessica) Gratton of Pittsfield, IL, Stacey (Dustin) Neese of Nebo, IL, Lindsey (Bobby England) Gratton of Pittsfield, IL and Jason Gratton of Springfield, IL; sixteen grandchildren, Josh, Jacob, Brian (Katie), Nick (Abby), Ashley (Evin), Ethan, Hayden, Evan, Madi (Nathan), Wyatt, Courtney (Logan), Mekenzie, Alivia, Lee, Jared, Madison; eight great-grandchildren, Ellie, Colt, Beau, Charlotte, Sophia, Arlo, and two on the way; one brother Sammy Meyers of Louisiana, MO and several in-laws, nieces, and nephews survive.
She was preceded in death by her parents and in-laws Charles and Bessie Gratton.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, November 29, 2023, at 10:30 AM at the Niebur Funeral Home in Pittsfield, IL. Interment will follow at the Pittsfield West Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Tuesday November 28, 2023, from 4:00 PM – 6:00 PM. Memorials are suggested to be made to the Pike County Animal Shelter.
