Leta Jean (Reel) Daniels

Leta Jean Daniels, age 88, passed away Friday, June 16, 2023, at Pittsfield Manor in Pittsfield, IL. She was born August 20, 1934, in Newburg Township, IL to Harry O. and Frances Ellis Reel. Leta married Charles F. Daniels August 22, 1954, in Detroit, IL and he preceded her in death January 5, 2004.

Leta and Charles enjoyed a marriage of almost 50 years and delighted in extensive travels around the United States. She worked at K-Mart for 25 years and was kindly known as the ‘paint lady’. Leta was an avid St. Louis Cardinals fan and faithfully watched games on television. She was delighted when able to attend games in person; of course, she always kept her own scorecard! Leta liked playing cards, board games and putting together jigsaw puzzles. She was well-known with friends and family for keeping a meticulous yard, no matter what the season.

Leta is survived by three daughters, Barb (Everett) Flagg of Pleasant Hill, IA, Chris (Eric Elliot) French of Owings Mills, MD and Mary Jacobsen of Pittsfield, IL; grandchildren, Christopher (Dana) Flagg, Niccole (Lee) Rose, Matt Flagg and Ashley (Alex) D’Angelo; great grandchildren, Ashlynn Rose, Austin Rose, Lainey Rose, Lehda Flagg, Hayden Flagg, Ellie Flagg, Wyatt Flagg and Crosby Flagg; sisters-in-law, Carlene Dunham Sheppard and Norma Reel; brother-in-law, William Christison; and numerous nieces and nephews also survive.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Harry and Frances Reel; husband of 49 years, Charles Daniels; sisters, Velma Christison and Lois Miller; brothers, Harry Lee Reel and A.C. Reel; granddaughter, Cassandra French; and son-in-law, Richard Jacobsen.

Funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM, Monday, June 19, 2023, at Niebur Funeral Home in Pittsfield with visitation held prior to the service from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM. Private interment will be held at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to be made to Blue River Cemetery. Online condolences may be left to the family at www.nieburfh.com.
