Keith Crain, age 58, of Pittsfield, IL passed away Friday, August 9, 2024, at Illini Community Hospital in Pittsfield, IL. He was born November 2, 1965, in Taylorville, IL.
Keith grew up in Roby, IL and graduated from Mt. Auburn High School in 1984. While in high school he excelled at baseball and basketball and in later years, he also played softball. Keith worked for ABF and later was co-owner of All-C Construction and was an owner/operator of Steve’s Crane Service. He also owned and operated The Brickyard in Pittsfield and The Stadium in Springfield. Keith loved the outdoors and took great delight in taking JacLyn 4-wheeling and out on her first deer hunt each year. When Janet came into his life, he became Dad to not only JacLyn but five more daughters and became a grandpa, which was icing on the cake. He enjoyed hosting Crain Deer Camp with Bones, Luke and friends. He loved fishing and hunting deer and turkey. Keith also spent time hunting mushrooms in the great outdoors only to give them away to friends and family. He and Janet loved Carnival cruising, especially spending time on the Caribbean Cruises. He was a talented woodworker, enjoyed good conversation and a cold Miller Lite. Keith was a man of many one-liners, enjoyed talking the stock market and could sing a good George Jones or Conway Twitty tune. He was a giving and big-hearted teddy bear who loved his grandkids dearly and will be missed by all.
Keith is survived by his companion of 15 years, Janet Gwartney; daughter, JacLyn Crain; Stephanie (Paul) Baker, Jennifer (Josh) Willman, Tracey (Nathan) Heatherly, Kristen (Andrew) Walker and Rachael (Chris Crichelow) Pine; seventeen grandchildren; one great grandchild on the way; brother, ‘Bones’ (Linette) Crain; niece, JoEllen (Derek) Cornelius; nephew, Luke (Isabelle Saunders) Crain; great nieces, Khloe and Chandler; and great nephew, Aiden.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents.
