Juanita M. (Roberts) Griffin

Juanita M. Griffin, age 85, of Milton, IL passed away Tuesday, June 4, 2024, at Blessing Hospital in Quincy, IL. She was born April 6, 1939, in Baylis, IL to Fred L. and Marjorie Eckelberger Roberts. Juanita married Herbert Griffin Sr. December 7, 1957, in Senatobia, MS and he preceded her in death June 17, 1996.

Juanita grew up in Baylis on the farm, where she worked side by side with her dad and was his #1 farmhand. She moved to Havana when she and Herbert married in 1957 and in the late 70’s she helped build and manage Kentucky Fried Chicken where she worked for several years. Juanita was also a caretaker for the elderly. After retiring, she moved back to Baylis and worked on the family farm and helped out with her grandchildren which she enjoyed more than anything. She dearly loved her dogs and owned many over the years. Juanita was an avid reader and enjoyed watching Dr. Phil, Judge Judy and dog rescue shows. She was of Christian faith and was a loving and kindhearted person who you could always count on for a hug and never met a stranger. Juanita will be dearly missed by those who knew her.

Juanita is survived by her son, Ricky (Tina) Griffin of Staples, MN; grandchildren, Ricky Lee Griffin, Jr., Kayla Griffin, Kari (Josh Koch) Griffin and Cally (Ian) Carroll; great grandchildren, Logan Koch, Payton Koch and Lynn Carroll; sisters, Ruby Duke, Freda (Vern) Edwards, Lynda (Ricardo) Schwalb and Brenda Howard; numerous nieces and nephews; daughter-in-law, Lisa (Dennis) Griffin-Beaver; and special friends, Mary Pillars, Michelle Pillars and Samantha Pillars.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Fred and Marjorie Roberts; husband, Herbert Griffin, Sr.; son, Herbert Griffin, Jr.; sisters, Mary Ellen Clendenny, Hazel Ghrist, Margaret Jean Roberts and Minnie Booker; and in-laws, Larry Duke, Jimmy Howard, Bob Ghrist, Bill Booker and Earl Phillips.

Graveside service will be held at 2:00 PM, Friday, June 7, 2024, at Woodland Cemetery in Baylis, IL. Memorials are suggested to be made to Pike County Animal Shelter. Online condolences may be left to the family at www.nieburfh.com. Niebur Funeral Home in Pittsfield is handling the arrangements.
