Johnny Robert DeJaynes, age 78, of St. Charles, MO passed away Wednesday, July 12, 2023, at Lewis & Clark Gardens in St. Charles, MO. He was born June 24, 1945, in Perry, IL to Wayne and Ruth Ina Brown DeJaynes.
Johnny was a hard worker and began his career in 1969 with Bennett’s Box Company and was later a handyman at Ty’s Bar & Grill. Johnny worked stripping furniture at Bo’s Dip & Strip for Bo Weichen who was a dear friend to Johnny throughout his life. He enjoyed riding his bicycle all over St. Charles and collecting cans, Johnny was known locally as ‘the can man’! In earlier years, Johnny attended the World Wide Church of God and often watched evangelist Larry Rice on television with his mom. He liked to play dominos with family and shoot pool with his friends at the City Club. Johnny enjoyed playing guitar and loved Elvis Presley and John Denver songs. Johnny was a simple man who loved big and was always ready and able to help anyone in need; he was the extra in your ordinary.
Johnny is survived by brother, Thomas DeJaynes of Tampa, FL; sisters, Mary Collins of Griggsville, IL and Bonnie Ward of Houston, MO; niece and caretaker, Ginny Ann (Ted Basler) Hausmann of Hazelwood, MO; and numerous nieces and nephews also survive.
He was preceded in death by brother, Roy DeJaynes; and sisters, Betty Ravencraft and Peggy Ann DeJaynes.
Funeral service will be held 12:00 PM, Monday, July 17, 2023 at Niebur Funeral Home in Pittsfield with visitation held prior to the service from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM. Interment will follow the service at Baylis Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to be made to Lewis & Clark Gardens. Online condolences may be left to the family at www.nieburfh.com.
