Johnnie Bill Collins, age 69, of Pittsfield, IL passed away on Friday, May 27, 2022 at his home surrounded by family. He was born on October 23, 1952 in Louisiana, MO to Lyndle and Martha Kirtwright Collins. He married Patsy Patton on August 19, 1978 in Pittsfield, IL and she survives.
Johnnie graduated from Pittsfield High School in 1972 and went on to work various jobs over the years including Brown Shoe Factory, a shoe factory in Hannibal, Tate Cheese, and picked apples. He also worked at Maschhoffs and the Whey Factory and retired in 2015. Johnnie enjoyed being a ham radio operator and listening to his records. He loved yard sales and collecting coins among many other things. He spent a lot of time with his family and greatly loved his children and grandchildren. He also couldn’t do anything without a cup of coffee. Johnnie was soft spoken, kind, easy going, and a hard worker. He was the rock of the family and will be remembered for his heart of gold. He will be dearly missed.
He is survived by his wife of nearly 44 years, Pat Collins; son, Joshua Collins of Pittsfield, IL; daughters, Angela Baskett of Pittsfield, IL and Tara (Clint Long) Collins of New Salem, IL; nine grandchildren, Demi (Devin) Clinton, Cody (Bri) Potter, Cassi (Hunter) Turner, Tori McKinnon, Brett Paben, Kylie Paben, Coltyn (Hailey) Pruner, Clara Long, and Cole Long; five great grandchildren, Gabriella Clinton, Aquila Clinton, Isabella Turner, Lane Turner, Mason Pruner, and one on the way, Elizabeth; brother, Rodney (Phoebe) Collins of Pleasant Hill, IL; sisters, Leona Gratton of Pittsfield, IL, Vela Ruble of Jacksonville, IL, Tonna (Ronnie) Long of Pittsfield, IL, Janie Shipman of Pittsfield, IL, Janet (Hoss) Stroud of Texas, Janet Sydney of Pittsfield, IL, Evelyn Collins of Barry, IL, Marth Lou (Kenny) Hill of Pleasant Hill, IL, and Sandy (Mike) Davidson of Alsey, IL; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Lyndle and Martha Collins; daughter, Elizabeth Baskett; and siblings, Barbara Patton, Ruth Ann Evans, Betty Foster, Dorothy Teaney, Leroy Collins, and Mike Collins.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, June 3, 2022 at 3:00 PM at Niebur Funeral Home in Pittsfield. Visitation will be held prior to the service on Friday from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM. There will be no interment following the services. Memorials are suggested to be made to the family c/o Niebur Funeral Home. Online condolences may be left to the family at www.nieburfh.com.
