John 'Jack' Venable

On July 21, 2025, John (Jack) Carnes Venable, aged 75, departed this world to be with his beloved wife, Sandi Gragg Venable, and his Lord and Savior, Jesus.

Jack was a co-owner and operator of the Pittsfield Community Sale Barn. Jack enjoyed a hearty meal, a good drink, and the company of his close friends and family. Being a great dog lover, Jack could be seen early mornings walking his current companion. He was devoted to caring for his wife, his parents, and his first cousins, the three McGreevy sisters in their final days.

Jack was born on October 10, 1949, in Pittsfield, IL to John Edmonds Venable and Mary Dale Carnes Venable. He was preceded in death by his wife, Sandra Gragg Venable; his parents, John and Mary Dale Venable; and his sister, Judy Livermore.

He is survived by his sister, Jaye Dodds; stepdaughter, Donna Jean Pulkrabek; nephews, Doug Livermore, David Livermore, and Dan Livermore; and his nieces, Marti Ayers, Debby Kaffer, and Andrea Dodds.

Cremation rites have been accorded, and a private graveside service will be held at a later date. Memorials are suggested to be made to Pike County Animal Shelter or Calvary Cemetery.
