John Hoos

John Edward Hoos, age 72 of Griggsville, IL passed away Wednesday, March 18, 2026, at his home. He was born April 20, 1953, in Pittsfield, IL to Claud Edward and Rena Mildred Wackerman Hoos.

John graduated from Pittsfield High School and worked for many area farmers over the years. He enjoyed hanging out with his friends and was always ready for a road trip with Anthony to St. Louis to go to the scrapyard. John loved to fish and took pride in the 50 lb catfish he caught at Lake Pittsfield. He was a simple man who loved his cats and enjoyed mowing his yard.

John is survived by his son, James Hoos and family. He was preceded in death by his parents, Edward and Rena Hoos; brothers, Carl Hoos and George Hoos; and sister, Evelyn Griffeth.

Graveside service will be held at 1:00 PM, Wednesday, March 25, 2026, at Pittsfield West Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to be made to Pittsfield West Cemetery. Online condolences may be sent to the family at www.nieburfh.com. Niebur Funeral Home in Pittsfield is handling the arrangements.
