John Flynn, age 62, of Pearl, IL passed away Sunday, May 31, 2026, at his home. He was born February 2, 1964, in Jacksonville, IL to Robert and Delores White Flynn. John married Deanna Ottwell on June 15, 1985, at Green Pond Christian Church and she survives.
John attended East Pike Grade School and was a 1982 graduate of Pittsfield High School. He worked for Ironworkers Local #46 until his retirement in 2023. John then continued to work with his son farming, even though he complained about running the tractor. John enjoyed spending time with his family and loved coaching not only his own kids but later his grandchildren on their ball teams. He could definitely be counted on to give his opinion or comment on a call on the ballfield. John was an avid outdoorsman, enjoying turkey and coyote hunting, fishing and grilling for the family. He enjoyed his trips to Minnesota to fish for walleye with good friends, Roger and LeAnn Pepper. John loved his dog, Annie…but his grandkids were the true icing on his cake. He was a hardworking, opinionated, and stubborn man but could always be counted on by friends and family when needed.
John is survived by his wife of nearly 41 years, Deanna Flynn of Pearl, IL; son, Dylan (Rachel) Flynn of Nebo, IL; daughter, Robyn (Colin) Bigley of Winchester, IL; grandchildren, Jacoby Bigley, Roman Flynn, Layne Flynn, Makenna Flynn, and Bryar Flynn; sister, Kathy (Jim) Clendenny; in-laws, Dean and Sherry Ottwell, Missy (Mark) Still, Rhonda (Stu) Cunningham, and Rob (Angie) Ottwell; several nieces and nephews also survive; and bonus kids, Logan Harshman and Brittney Kimber Emerick.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Delores Flynn; and brother, Rob Flynn.
