Joel Noble Obituary

Joel Noble, age 17 of Pittsfield, IL passed away Saturday, May 24, 2025. He was born March 2, 2008, in Quincy, IL to Justin R. and Jennifer M. Sawyer Noble.

Joel grew up in Pittsfield and attended Pittsfield schools where he was currently a junior with the Class of 2026. Joel was active in many activities including basketball and band in junior high. Upon entering high school at PHS he found his true love, wrestling! Joel was a sectional qualifier his freshman year and continued to grow his skill set by attending Purler Wrestling Camps and attributed part of his success to the fact that he was simply #builtdifferent. He was also active in Pittsfield FFA; ran 4X800, 800 and 1600 in track; played golf his freshman year with his brother, Jamo; was a member of Pike County Swim Team; and played 2nd base in baseball from Little League and later with Midwest Bucks and on into high school. Joel was of the Christian faith and attended many church activities. Joel was always a hard worker; spending summers umpiring games with Jamo, working at Bowler’s Universe in the kitchen with Jamo and Granny Dona and was also a lifeguard at King Park Pool. Joel was set to work for the City of Pittsfield this summer and was thrilled when he received the call. Joel was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed fishing, hunting, and shooting trap. Uncle Keenan was proud to be with Joel when he bagged his 1st buck. Outside of school, he was an excellent tee-pee artist and fearless leader of capture the flag during homecoming week! He enjoyed riding dirt bikes with Jake and Bodine; loved learning to shoot bows with Kaden; and enjoyed playing basketball at the Big Game facility with Hayden, Reese and Josie. He and Jamo spent countless hours together playing pool, in house wrestling, creeking, golfing, and just hanging out. Joel was considered a huge asset to his neighborhood, was a very loving, loyal and energetic friend and was always the life of the party with his outgoing personality and kind smile. He loved energy drinks and fireball candy from Caseys. Joel loved going on vacation and attending concerts with family, attending the annual skating party at the Loading Dock, and the family July 4th celebration. He especially enjoyed the time spent with his family at the recent Packers and Dolphins game. Road trips to the Purler practices with dad, Justin watching the hours of hard work he put in to keep improving as a wrestler will continue to be a cherished memory. Joel will be intensely missed by his family and we know he is snuggled up in heaven in one of the comfy blankets he was always stealing from mom, Jen.

Joel is survived by his loving parents, Justin and Jennifer Noble; brother, Jameson Noble; grandparents, Ron and Sue Sawyer, Dona and Bryce Gleckler, and Richard (BJ Yelliott) Noble; great-grandmother, Laverda Gleckler; aunts and uncles, Julie (Andy Kaiser) Sawyer and their family, Tyler (Miah) Sawyer,  Timmothy Arians, and Hayden Arians and Keenan (Nicole) Noble and their family, Emma Noble and Daniel Noble; also surviving are many great aunts, great uncles, and cousins.

He was preceded in death by grandparents, Raymond and Ardys Sawyer, Ivan and Geneva Beaman, Edgar and Kat Houchins, Jim and Lawana Noble, and Robert Gleckler; and several aunts, uncles, and cousins also preceded him in death.
