Jim E. Jones

Jim E. Jones, age 92 of Pittsfield, IL passed away Wednesday, November 9, 2022, at Eastside Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center in Pittsfield, IL. He was born August 11, 1930, in Fillmore, IL to Martin P. and Mabel Easter Jones. Jim married Barbara Hagaman and to this union five children were born. He later married Charlotte Jones June 13, 1987, at Lil Fesler’s home in Pittsfield and she preceded him in death September 20, 2017.

He graduated from Carlinville High School and worked various jobs through the years at grain mills and Granite City Steel and later retired from GTE. Jim was a member of Green Pond Christian Church and more recently attended Time Christian Church. Jim’s true passion was music, and he was a talented and accomplished artist who played legion halls, VFW halls, nursing homes and offered his talents at many benefits for others. He was a member and played at Moose Haven in Orange Park, FL 21 times over the years. Jim and Charlotte loved to travel to music festivals, putting puzzles together and painting. He also traveled thousands of miles by himself in a van with over 307,000 miles on it after buying it brand new! Jim was optimistic, happy, social, knowledgeable in music and loved to entertain. His gracious spirit and kindness to others will be deeply missed by friends and family.

Jim is survived by son, Martin Jones of Rushville, IL; daughters, Jamae (Wyatt Wood) Jones of Kinderhook, IL, Terry (Dennis) Jennings of Pittsfield, IL and Pat (Rex McKinley) Barber of Springfield, IL; and twelve grandchildren, Diana (Kraig) Renken, Jeremy (Tina) Richards, Joe (Tammy) Jennings, Becky (RC) Campbell, Chad (Jennifer) Jennings, Jesse Costello, Kelsey (Kyle) Galayda, Dezmand (Marcey) Jones, Jay Jones, Casey Jones, Molly Jones and Nic Jones.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Martin and Mabel Jones; wife, Charlotte Jones; son, Larry Jones; and brothers, Bill Jones and Larry Jones.

Funeral service will be held Saturday, November 12, 2022, at 11:00 AM at Niebur Funeral Home in Pittsfield, IL with visitation prior to the service from 10:30 AM to 11:00 AM. Interment will follow the service at Green Pond Cemetery in Pearl, IL. Memorials are suggested to be made to Blessing Hospice. Online condolences may be left to the family at www.nieburfh.com.
