Jeff attended Pittsfield High School and went on to play baseball at Quincy College, where he was scouted for multiple minor league teams.  He spent ten years managing JBS United and then fulfilled his dream of opening his own BBQ business, ‘Babe’s Smokehouse’, which was named after his dad whose nickname was ‘Babe’.  Jeff met his wife Amy in 1998 and were married for 22 years.  He had four daughters, Hayley 29, of Chatham, IL, Abigail, 21 of Quincy, IL, Katie, 19 of Pittsfield, IL, and Sydnee, 13 of Pittsfield, IL.

Jeff loved hunting, fishing, and golfing. He also had a passion for coaching his daughters in softball, which stemmed from his love and knowledge of baseball. Jeff also loved being at the beach and spent countless vacations in Destin, FL.  Poker nights with close friends was something Jeff always looked forward to as well.  Jeff also had a passion for cooking and grilling for his family and friends, which was what many people knew him for.

Jeff was diagnosed with kidney failure in 2015, and during his battle with end stage renal disease he overcame thyroid cancer among many other serious complications.  Jeff was a very strong-willed person and fought his battle with hope, even to the end.  Jeff was baptized in 2014 at First Christian Church in Pittsfield, IL and was able to find comfort in Christ before his passing.
