Jean Rose, age 92 of Independence, MO passed away at his home on Saturday January 18, 2025. He was born on May 27, 1932, in Pittsfield, IL to Daniel and Mary Ethelene (Ellis) Rose. Jean is survived by his loving wife, Katherine (Spicer) Stewart Rose whom he married in 2011.
Jean graduated from Pittsfield High School in 1950. He went on to serve his country in the United States Army from May 27, 1960, until he was honorably discharged on May 26, 1963. In his early years he worked at a truck stop in Pittsfield before he began his career as an over the road truck driver. After many years of driving, he retired from the Transcon Trucking Company. Jean was a member of the Full Gospel Assembly Church in Independence, MO, where he attended faithfully. He was an excellent wood crafter and made many wooden bird wind spinners, crosses that looked like Jesus and even a horse sleigh. Jean loved God and was proud of his country. He was a patient, loving, and caring man who was kind to all. He will be missed by all who knew him.
Jean is survived by his wife Katherine Stewart-Rose; two sons, Kevin (Sarah) Rose and Rusty (Callie) Rose; four grandchildren, Amanda, Justin, Pete, and Zac; several great and great-great grandchildren; one sister Kay Dunham; and several nieces and nephews also survive. He was preceded in death by his parents; and two brothers, Daniel and Gail.
Services will be held on Wednesday January 22, 2025, at 12:00 PM at the Niebur Funeral Home in Pittsfield, IL. Interment will follow at the Pittsfield West Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to be made to Full Gospel Assembly Church, 10537 E 6th St S, Independence, MO 64053. Online condolences may be left to the family at www.nieburfh.com.
