Janet Ann “Janny” Losch, our beloved mom, grandma, and great grandma passed away on July 28, 2023, with her family close by.
Janet was the oldest child born to Roy and Alta J (Yelton) Losch on July 12, 1943, in Quincy Illinois. Janny spent her life in Barry Illinois. She graduated from Barry High School 1961. She received her nursing degree in 1968 after finishing her studies at Saint Elizabeth’s Nursing School in Hannibal. With her bigger than life personality, Janny was able to wear many hats in her lifetime, including being a nurse, developed the first PIKE County Ambulance Service stationed in Barry, being a softball player, and coaching her daughters’ softball teams, a bar owner, and friend to many. After decades of service as a nurse at the Illinois Veterans Home, Janny finally retired to pursue her true passion which was her girls, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
She will be forever cherished and remembered by her daughter, Dee Dee (Jeff) Barker of Barry; daughters by heart, Sarah (Eric) Gates of Barry and Beth (Curtis) Mudd of Barry, Illinois; grandchildren, Chanse (Whitney) Barker of Payson, Illinois, JoDee (Dan) Harris of Liberty, Illinois, Regan (Brad) Klauser of Liberty, Illinois, Hunter and Addy Gates of Barry, Illinois, Pearce Chaplin, Netti Chaplin, Riatt Mudd, Rukis Mudd, and Caleb (Cheyenne) Erke; a brother, Tom (Joyce) Losch of Quincy, Illinois and thirteen great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Roy and Alta Losch; and a daughter by heart, Debby Erke.
Services will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Wednesday, August 9, 2023, at the Barry Funeral Chapel in Barry, Illinois with visitation held prior to the service from 2:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. Burial will be held at the Taylor-Martin Cemetery, New Canton, Illinois, following the service. Memorials may be made to the Taylor-Martin Cemetery. Online condolences may be left at www.nieburfh.com. Niebur Funeral Chapel is handling the arrangements.
