Janet H. (Heavner) Edwards

Janet H. Edwards, age 80 of Bluffton, SC passed away April 23, 2025, at Coastal Carolina Hospital.  She was born November 2, 1944, in Pearl, IL to Howard and Pauline Duff Heavner. Janet married Kenneth Edwards April 17, 1965, in Pearl, IL and he preceded her in death June 4, 2012. 

Janet was a biology teacher and homemaker who cherished time spent with her family and friends and enjoyed driving across country to visit family.  She was an avid reader, antique collector, and member of Milton/Pearl HCE.  

Janet is survived by her daughter, Jeanne (Jaime) Stash; sons, Chad (Beth) Edwards and Tom Edwards; granddaughter, Brenna Edwards; siblings, Robert (Dorothy) Heavner and Bud (Beverly) Heavner; sister-in-law, Carylin Heavner and numerous nieces and nephews also survive. 

She was preceded in death by her parents, Howard and Pauline Heavner; husband of 47 years, Kenneth Edwards; and siblings, Jeanne Patton, Judy Schlereth, and Frank Heavner. 

Cremation rites have been accorded, and a funeral service will be held at 6:00 PM, Thursday, June 19, 2025, at Niebur Funeral Home in Pittsfield, IL with visitation held prior to the service from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM at the funeral home. Private interment will be held at Oak Ridge Cemetery in Springfield, IL. In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to be made to Palmetto Animal League, 56 Riverwalk Blvd, Okatie, SC 29936.
