Jane S. West

Jane Sue West, age 87, of Pittsfield, IL passed away on Thursday, April 21, 2022 at Blessing Hospital in Quincy. She was born in St Louis, MO on July 2, 1934, the beloved second child of Jack C. and Bessie M. Rhudisil Bullington.  She married William ‘Bill’ West of Pittsfield, IL on July 3, 1954 and he preceded her in death on December 4, 2017.

Jane’s family moved to Barry, Illinois while she was a teenager, and she graduated from Barry High School in 1952. She pursued nursing at Blessing Nursing School in Quincy, IL where she graduated as a Registered Nurse.  After marrying Bill, they remained living in Pittsfield all of their lives. While her husband farmed, Jane worked as a nurse at Illini Community Hospital and later for Dr. Shulman and Dr. Baylis for many years.  Jane enjoyed activities with many friends which included community club, canasta, traveling, bowling, Home Extension and dominos. She may have watched Jeopardy every day for the last 50 years and could have given Ken Jennings a run for his money. Jane’s passion was her family and her house was filled with the sounds of children all her life.

She is survived by her and Bill’s four children, Vicki (Charles) McGee of Mascoutah, IL, Dianne (Shawn Kohut) Newman of Dexter, KY, Thomas West, Pittsfield and Gary (Denise) West of Pittsfield; grandchildren, Kerri Ankenman, Chris and Zack McGee, Amanda Newman, Stephanie West, Jennifer West, Angie Dixon, Toni Daniels, and Adileigh West; and great grandchildren, Aislyn, Tristyn, Eamon, Maeve and Conall Ankenman, Marlee Moody and Everly West, Ethan and Emma Dixon, and Payton, Jaqueline and Ellie Mae Daniels.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Jack and Bessie Bullington; her husband, Bill; a brother, Jack D Bullington; daughter-in-law, Jan West; and three great grandchildren at birth.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, May 9, 2022 at 12:00 PM at Niebur Funeral Home in Pittsfield with interment following at Pittsfield West Cemetery.  Visitation will be held on Monday prior to the service from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM at the funeral home.  She was a member of New Hartford Christian Church and wanted any memorials to go to the church.
