Jane E. (Kraybill) Ransom

Jane Ransom, 78, of Pittsfield, IL died on Saturday, September 27, 2025, at her home surrounded by family and friends.  She was born on April 12, 1947, at Illini Community Hospital to Dr. William and Betty Kraybill.  She married Paul Ransom on August 27, 1967.  He preceded her in death in 2024.

Jane graduated from Pittsfield High School in 1965. She worked alongside Paul in his business.  Jane was the first female to serve on the Pittsfield Park Board.  She was proud to raise three independent, successful daughters.

She is survived by her daughters Dee Dee (Doug) Gellerman of Petersburg, Kim Brown and Kris (Gideon) Smith both of Quincy; six grandchildren John Gellerman, Caroline Smith, Samantha Brown, Liv Brown, Garrett Smith, and Jackson Smith.  She is also survived by several nieces and nephews.  Jane’s bonus children who survive are Janelle Van Hecke, Tammy Zumwalt, Christopher Reel, and Keith Martin. 

Per her wishes, there will be no services.  Memorials may be made to Blessing Hospice, Quanada, or the donor’s choice. Online condolences may be left to the family at www.nieburfh.com. Niebur Funeral Home in Pittsfield is handling the arrangements.
