James H. Brown, age 85, of Pittsfield, IL passed away on Saturday, December 14, 2024 at Blessing Hospital in Quincy, IL.  He was born on August 14, 1939 in Hannibal, MO to Millard D. and Harriet (Penstone) Brown.  Jim married the love of his life, Karen McIntire on August 20, 1960 at the Detroit Christian Church and she survives.

Jim graduated from Pittsfield High School in 1958, where he was an outstanding football player and very proud to be the right tackle for the Saukees.  After graduation Jim worked for R.C. Gray Chevrolet as the parts manager, Ackles Orchards and Bergman’s Meat Packing Company.  In 1980 he began his career with Capitol City Thermal King and continued until he retired in 2010, as General Manager.  Jim then became a full time farmer. He was a self-taught mechanic who could fix anything. He was very active throughout his life and enjoyed the outdoors.  He had a love for hunting, ATV riding, snowmobiling and traveling.  He also loved taking rides in the country. His true passion was fishing, his travels took him mostly to fishing spots.  Jim spent over 30 years fishing in Canada.  He also loved his time fishing and snowmobiling in Mercer, Wisconsin with his sons. In recent years, he really enjoyed fishing in the Gulf of Mexico with Karen.  Jim was a people person and never met a stranger.  He was a kind man who was always ready to help when needed.

Jim is survived by his wife of 64 years Karen; two sons, Kevin (Peggy) Brown of Pittsfield, IL and Chad (Sondra) Brown of Mercer, WI; one sister, Lilly Kimbell of Clinton, KY; sisters-in-law, Diane Brown and Jo-an McIntire;  and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, David E.
