James Isaac Robertson, age 88, of rural Kinderhook, IL passed away on Tuesday, December 19, 2023, at the Barry Healthcare in Barry, IL with his family at his side. He was born on August 31, 1935, in Pleasant Vale Township to Charles Edwin and Goldie Embree Robertson.
Jim grew up in the Hadley Township and was a farmer his entire life, except when he enlisted into the U.S. Army in 1959 where he was a heavy truck driver. He was honorably discharged in 1961. He was a grain and hog farmer, but his true passion was raising cattle. He passed on his knowledge of cattle to his young friend Ronnie Embree and became a great mentor to him. Jim also enjoyed his time shearing sheep with his best buddy, brother-in-law Bud. He enjoyed attending rodeos, tractor pulls, demo derbies, and basketball on TV especially the Bulls, Michael Jordan era. Jim was a good neighbor, always helping anyone in need. He was a hardworking, very selfless, simple man who was loved by all who knew him. Jim was of the Christian faith and was able to give his life to Jesus before he passed. He will be dearly missed by his family, friends, and neighbors.
Jim is survived by sisters, Sharon (Nick) Brown of Kinderhook, IL and Freda Rudolph of Wood River, IL; brother-in-law, Artie Harris; sister-in-law, Heidi Robertson; numerous nieces and nephews; and his furry friend, Bob the cat.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Goldie Robertson; four sisters, Kay Harris, Alice Jean ‘Jeannie’ Robertson, Betty Lynn in infancy and Mary Ann Myers; four brothers, Dale Robertson, Richard Robertson, Robert ‘Bobby’ Robertson and Michael ‘Oscar’ Robertson; brothers-in-law, Larry Rudolph and Harold ‘Bud” Myers.
Cremation rites have been accorded and graveside service will be held at 1:00 PM, Wednesday, December 27, 2023, at Kinderhook Cemetery in Kinderhook, IL. Memorials are suggested to be made to Blessing Hospice or Kinderhook Cemetery. Online condolences may be left to the family at www.nieburfh.com.
