James Dolbeare Obituary

James Dolbeare, of New Canton, IL, age 70, passed away Sunday, March 15, 2026 at his home. He was born on March 23, 1955 in Hannibal, MO, to Clarence York & Betty Jane (Allen) Dolbeare. Jimmy married Valorie Cox on August 2, 2002 in New Canton, IL. She survives.

He graduated from West Pike High School in 1973. He then farmed for Jerry Schulz and worked at Electric Wheel for a few years. Jimmy was over a 30+ year member of the Carpenter & Joiners Local #189 out of Quincy, IL, and worked as a carpenter. He was an outdoorsman who loved deer hunting, hunting for shed antlers, arrowheads and mushrooms. Anything to do with the outdoors, he enjoyed. He also enjoyed Nascar during the Dale Earnhardt years. Besides construction, Jimmy was mechanically inclined and could fix anything.

Jimmy is survived by his wife, Valorie; sons, Andy Dolbeare, Kevin (Amanda) Dolbeare, Chad Dolbeare; grandchildren, Skylar (John Paris) Burnett, Jordan McKenzie, Zane Fesler, Rylee Ross, Regan Dolbeare, Ivey Rae Dolbeare; great-grandchildren, L.J., Olivia, Atreous, Paxton; brothers, Russel (Mona) Dolbeare and David (Carol) Dolbeare; and special cousins, Stacey Dolbeare, Leonard Dolbeare, Ann Epley and several other cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Clarence York & Betty Dolbeare; sister, Sally (Tom) Plattner; and a grandson, Lee Robert Fortney.

Per Jimmy’s request cremation rites will be accorded. There will be a Celebration of Life at a later date. Memorials may be made to the New Canton Fire Department or Pike County Animal Shelter.
