Helen Lemons

Helen Lemons, age 100, of Collinsville, IL and formerly of Pittsfield, IL passed away Monday, August 19, 2024. Mrs. Lemons was born April 18, 1924, in San Francisco, CA. Mrs. Lemons met her husband, Bill in San Francisco while he was in the Army. They were married in 1942 in Reno, NV and he preceded her in death in 1977.

Helen retired from GTE in 1986 with 37 years of service, moving to Charleston, SC in 1987 to be with her mother. She worked for 6 years for Bates Computerize Answering Service. Upon the death of her mother, she moved to Collinsville in 1996 to be near her daughter and family. She worked several days a week helping her daughter and son-in-law who owned Jonathan’s Photo 55 until it closed.

Mrs. Lemons is survived by her daughter, Pat (John) Steuart of Maryville, IL; granddaughter, Shelly (Christine) Steuart of Collinsville, IL; sister-in-law, Tokiko Doran of Colorado; several nieces and nephews in Illinois; and an aunt and numerous cousins in California.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Bill Lemons; and three siblings, Robert, Lorraine and Molly.

Cremation rites have been accorded and Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. Memorials are suggested to be made to VITAS Hospice, 16 Executive Drive, Suite 100, Fairview Heights, IL 62208. Online condolences may be left to the family at www.nieburfh.com.
