Gertie May Gratton, age 85 of Pittsfield, IL passed away Thursday, March 20, 2025, at Pittsfield Manor in Pittsfield, IL. She was born September 29, 1939, in St. Charles, MO to Stanley Charles and Mary Alice Lane Nash. Gertie married David Alvin Gratton in 1960, in Bowling Green, MO and he preceded her in death February 23, 2023.
Gertie attended school in White Hall, IL. Gertie worked for a time at Stark’s Brothers Nursery and then became a stay-at-home mom. She said her occupation was a housewife and her employer was her husband. Gertie was a kind and caring woman who loved watching her grandchildren and spending time with her husband.
Gertie is survived by her son, Patrick (Stephanie) Gratton of Pittsfield, IL; daughters, Linda Gratton, Mary Ann (George) Spoonmore and Lisa (T.J. Brennan) Gratton, all of Pittsfield, IL; ten grandchildren; fifteen great grandchildren with two more on the way; three great great grandchildren; and sisters, Betty and Susan.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Stanley and Mary Nash; loving husband of 62 years, David Alvin Gratton; son, David Allen Gratton; grandson, Brady Edwards; and sister, Mary Pauline.
Cremation rites have been accorded, and graveside service will be held at 11:00 AM, Friday, April 4, 2025, at Nebo Cemetery in Nebo, IL. Memorials are suggested to be made to Nebo Cemetery. Online condolences may be left to the family at www.nieburfh.com. Niebur Funeral Home in Pittsfield is handling the arrangements.
