George Jeffery Kells, age 60 of Winchester, IL passed away Monday, May 19, 2025, at Springfield Memorial Hospital in Springfield, IL. He was born July 27, 1964, in Pittsfield, IL to Earl and Lillie Mae Barrow Kells. George married Lynnann Stewart October 17, 2014, and she survives.
George was a member of Praying Hands Church in Louisiana, MO; he was an ordained minister who officiated several weddings and was a prayer warrior for those in need. Over the years, George worked many different jobs including Jack’s Department Store in Quincy, Capitol Records in Jacksonville, worked as a CNA, and for General Mills for over 15 years. He and Lynnann were also vendors in the Colony Flea Market. George enjoyed attending Flea Markets, but his greatest passion was fishing. He especially cherished family fishing trips to Kentucky Lake with Steve, Bob, and Joe.
George is survived by his wife, Lynnann Kells of Winchester, IL; children, Justin (Kenzie) Stewart of Catlettsburg, KY and Hallie Lang-Kells of Canton, MO; granddaughter, Abigail Lynn Stewart; sisters, Joyce Sitton, Debra Anders, Elizabeth Andrew, and Martha (David) Sharrow; former wife, Bonnie Morgan; in-laws, Larry and Connie Stewart; and special cat, “Big Sexy”.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Earl and Lillie Mae Kells; sisters, Sandra Swartz and Morocca Kells; brother, Steve Kells; and nephews, Joe Kells, Ken Anders, and Matthew Swartz.
Cremation rites have been accorded, and a Celebration of Life will be held at 11:00 AM, Thursday, May 29, 2025, at Niebur Funeral Home in Pittsfield with visitation held prior to the service from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the funeral home. Memorials are suggested to be made to the family c/o Niebur Funeral Home. Online condolences may be left to the family at www.nieburfh.com.
