Genevieve L. (Farran) Bush

Genevieve L. Bush, age 87, of Pittsfield, IL passed away Sunday, June 4, 2023, at Liberty Village in Pittsfield, IL. She was born July 22, 1935, in Summer Hill, IL to Maurice Roy and Nellie Mae Franklin Farran.

Genevieve grew up in Pike County and graduated from Barry High School. After high school she completed nurses training at the Jacksonville School of Nursing. She went on to work at various hospitals and nursing homes in the area as an LPN. Genevieve was of Christian faith and loved her animals and enjoyed watching Cardinals baseball. She was gifted with a green thumb and loved to spend time in her garden tending to flowers and produce alike. Genevieve enjoyed cooking and baking when the kids were home. She could be a bit eccentric, but her children will fondly remember the life’s lessons she taught them.

Genevieve is survived by son, Roger (Shari) Bush of Baylis, IL; daughter, Kimberly Bush of Hannibal, MO; daughter-in-law, Lora Bush; four grandchildren, Bridget (Jimmy Waters) Bush, Christina Butler, Jerrame Butler and Viktorya Bush; three great-grandchildren, Genevieve Allen, Jameson Waters and Roslyn Butler; and several nieces also survive.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Maurice and Nellie Farran; son, Mark Bush; grandson, Anthony Chance Bush; sisters, Edna Mae Daniels, Dorothy Marie Rigg and Onieda Sommers; and brothers, Maurice Farran, Jr. and Wordell Gray.

Cremation rites have been accorded and graveside service will be held Thursday, June 15, 2023, at 10:00 AM at Crescent Heights Cemetery in Pleasant Hill, IL. Memorials are suggested to be made to Crescent Heights Cemetery. Online condolences may be left to the family at www.nieburfh.com. Niebur Funeral Home in Pittsfield is handling the arrangements.
