Gay Elmer Williamson, age 88 of Griggsville, IL passed away Friday, April 10, 2026, at Eastside Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center in Pittsfield, IL. He was born July 3, 1937, in Maysville, IL to Frank and Florence Dunham Williamson. Gay married Carole Warton January 13, 1962, in Griggsville, IL and she survives.
Gay was a 1955 graduate of Griggsville High School and received his bachelor’s degree in Agriculture from Western Illinois University. He served in the United States Army Reserves from 1960 to 1966. Gay proudly carried on the family legacy farming on the family farm in Pike County. He was a 50-year member of the New Salem Masonic Lodge, was a very social person who never met a stranger, and loved to sit and visit with friends and neighbors. In his spare time, he enjoyed camping and could always be found on the sidelines supporting his daughter, Rebecca and all of his granddaughter’s sporting events. His kindness, charming smile, and easy-going banter will be missed by those who knew him.
