Evelyn Mae Griffeth, age 67 of Pittsfield, IL passed away Thursday, February 20, 2025, at Illini Community Hospital. She was born September 21, 1957, in Pittsfield, IL to Edward and Rena Mildred Wackerman Hoos. Evelyn married the love of her life, Jim Griffeth on June 4, 1977, in Pittsfield, IL and he survives.

Evelyn graduated from Pittsfield High School with the Class of 1975 and later attended John Wood Community College. Evelyn began her working career at Kamar Construction and then went on to work for USDA Farmers home Administration Rural Development and retired from the USDA Farm Service Agency. Evelyn and Jim loved to travel and especially enjoyed taking cruises. She was an avid NASCAR fan and when not attending in person she would be watching on TV. She enjoyed Jeep rides around the area which usually ended with a meal out. Evelyn loved planting flowers in her yard but due to the deer damage she became a metal yard art collector. She loved her family big, but her grandkids were her pride and joy, and she loved attending their activities. Evelyn was a hardworking, strong-willed lady who liked to be in charge and usually got anything she wanted.

Evelyn is survived by her loving husband of 47 years, Jim Griffeth; two sons, Keith (Rexanne) Griffeth of Springfield, IL and their children, Emma Jane and Henry Dewey Griffeth, and Brandon (Laureen) Griffeth of Mooresville, NC and their children, Adelyn Mae, Callie Rose, and James Paul ‘JP’ Brandon Griffeth; brothers, John Hoos and George (Loretta) Hoos; mother-in-law, Dorothy Griffeth; sister-in-law, Mary Hollingsworth; and a niece and several nephews also survive.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Edward and Rena Hoos; brother, Carl Hoos; father-in-law, Wayne Griffeth; and brother-in-law, Russell Hollingsworth.
