Emma L. Knoth, age 101 of Pittsfield, IL passed away Monday, June 30, 2025, at Eastside Heath & Rehabilitation Center in Pittsfield, IL. She was born September 3, 1923, in Summer Hill, IL to George W. and Sadie Turnbaugh Hillman. Emma married Daniel R. Knoth November 4, 1956, and he preceded her in death September 13, 1989.
Emma graduated from Pittsfield High School in 1942. After high school, she worked at Brown Shoe Factory for over 22 years. Emma then went to work at Bound to Stay Bound book bindery in Jacksonville until her retirement in 1986. Emma was a member of Church of Christ in Jacksonville. She was very social and enjoyed keeping track of old friends and pals through many years of letter writing and getting together for social hour and visiting about old times; many of these friendships dating back over 40 years. One of her greatest joys was gathering all of her brothers and sisters together to celebrate holidays with dinners and picnics. Emma loved to play bingo and over the years enjoyed traveling the United States with Dan.
Emma is survived by numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, George and Sadie Hillman; husband of 32 years, Daniel Knoth; sisters, Judy Boren and Mildred ‘Midge’ Arseneau; and brothers, Emmet Hillman, Ivan Hillman, Harold Hillman and Don Hillman.
Graveside service will be held at 11:00 AM, Monday, July 7, 2025, at Pittsfield West Cemetery with visitation held prior to the service from 10:00 AM to 10:45 AM at Niebur Funeral Home in Pittsfield. Memorials are suggested to be made to West Cemetery. Online condolences may be left to the family at www.nieburfh.com. Niebur Funeral Home in Pittsfield is handling the arrangements.
